Introduction

The Department of Pulmonary Medicine comprises two additional professors, one associate professor, eight senior residents, and five junior residents. It runs both outpatient and inpatient services in addition to postgraduate teaching and continuing medical education program of faculty and residents.

Between 1st April 2022 and March 2023 there were 37,505 attendances in the Pulmonary Medicine OPD. The patients consist of the local population of the area & also a significant number of patient from other parts of the state, coming for a specialist opinion.

Out-patient clinic runs from Monday to Saturday every week.

The department started inpatient services in June 2018 when we admitted our first patient. Since then, we have been admitting patients regularly. Between 1st April 2022 and March 2023, a total of 759 Patients were admitted to our inpatient services. We work closely with our nursing colleagues to put in place robust systems of monitoring and note and management of patients. We run rotation of senior and junior residents respectively to process 24 hours cover to support the inpatient services and on-call services for other departments.

  • IPD BEDS – 24 beds.
  • ICU – 4 bedded.
  • Bronchoscopy – For OPD and IPD patients of Pulmonary Medicine.
  • Thoracoscopy - For OPD and IPD patients of Pulmonary Medicine.
  • DLCO and Spirometry – For OPD and IPD patient of all departments in Hospital.
  • FENO – For OPD and IPD patient of Pulmonary Medicine.
  • EBUS – For OPD and IPD patient of Pulmonary Medicine.
  • Polysomnography Level 1 (SLEEP STUDY) – For OPD and IPD patient of all departments in Hospital.

1. Clinical Services:

Outpatient Clinics, Inpatient care, ICU patient care, Emergency, Bronchoscopy, Thoracoscopy, DLCO with Spirometry (Pulmonary Functions Test), FENO, EBUS.

2. Community service /Outreach Programs:

Our Faculty and resident participate in various health camps and awareness programs and support the telemedicine programme run by the institute.

3. Teaching & tranining:

Postgraduate teaching of DM course and internship training in pulmonary medicine.
